How to edit and delete NFTs

Burning your NFTs

Updated over a year ago

Can I edit my NFT?

After NFT is created, the metadata is frozen and cannot be edited. Ensure you review all the information carefully before minting. You can continue to edit the certificate for your NFT if you want to provide additional context about your work.

Can I edit my NFT certificate?

The NFT metadata is frozen but you can continue to edit your certificate as long as you are the current owner of the NFT.

  • Go to your dashboard

  • Find the NFT you would like to edit the certificate for

  • Click the pencil icon

  • Make any changes you want. You can add additional files and notes to provide further context.

  • Click 'Save'

How do I delete my NFT?

NFTs on the blockchain can't be deleted but can be removed from circulation to make it impossible for anyone else to trade or use it. This is called 'burning' an NFT.

To burn an NFT, transfer it to the zero address. Here's how you can do it on OpenSea.

  • Log in to OpenSea using the wallet that owns the NFT

  • Go to the NFT you would like to delete

  • Click on the transfer button (the paper plane)

  • Enter the burn address for OpenSea: 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD

  • Confirm the transfer

After the NFT has been transferred, it can never be recovered. Transferring the NFT to the zero address sends it to an inaccessible wallet.

After you've deleted the NFT, contact support@verisart.com with the link to the corresponding certificate you would like us to delete.
