How to set up your COA as NFT
Updated over 3 weeks ago

NFTs as COAs differ from regular NFTs as they offer the ability to include information of your physical artworks together with the minting information. This guide will help you set up your COA as NFT effectively.

Currently the only way to create a COA as NFT is through a hidden URL: https://verisart.com/application/mint?coa=true

Overview

In the OpenSea token description, you'll find a link to the Verisart Certificate, providing additional information and full details about the artwork. The traits and tags on Opensea correspond to the data related to the physical work, which can also be found on the certificate as well.

This solution offers your collectors a phygital experience, combining the physical aspects of the artwork and the mint into a single certificate of authenticity.

Here's an example on how it appears on Opensea: John Maeda, Morisawa 1

Here's how the same NFT as COA will appear on Verisart: John Maeda, Morisawa 1

What Will Appear on OpenSea?

Primary Image:

The primary image you upload in your form will appear as the image found on OpenSea. Additional images will only be viewable on the certificate page.

Title:

The title of the artwork is permanent. Whatever you choose to name your artwork will appear on both your certificate and OpenSea page.

Wallet/Contract Deployment - provenance:

The wallet used for contract deployment will appear as the ‘artist’ on OpenSea.

Please note: this is different to the ‘creator’ found on your certificate

Description:

Once you’ve minted your NFT as COA, the description is permanent and will appear on OpenSea alongside the link redirecting users back to the certificate with off-chain information.

Traits:

The artist NAME, dimensions, title, edition number/volume, ‘Verisart Certified’, and production year are automatically tagged and will appear on your certificate and OpenSea. Additional tags can also be added.

NFT Details:

All minting details will be available on OpenSea, including the contract address, Token ID, Token standard, chain, last updated date, and creator earnings.

How to set up your NFT as COA

Currently the only way to create a COA as NFT is through the following URL: https://verisart.com/application/mint?coa=true

The form is divided into two sections: Mint NFT and Certificate.

Mint NFT

In this part of the form, you’ll include all the on-chain information and fill it in like a regular NFT.

Wallet:

Select the wallet to deploy the contract; this will display as the ‘artist’ on OpenSea.

Blockchain:

Select the blockchain to mint against. Note: If minting on Ethereum or Base, you’ll need to cover the gas fees yourself.

Contract:

Choose between your contracts.

Please note: Opensea will group all NFTs minted under the same contract as a 'Collection'

Creator:

Set the creator of the artwork.

  • Note: This is different from the wallet deployment address and how it will appear on OpenSea; it will appear as the artist on Verisart certificate and as a tag on OpenSea.

NFT Details:

  • Primary Image: This is the main image of your NFT as COA and will also appear on OpenSea.

  • Title: The title of the work, which will appear on OpenSea.

  • Description: Any text or description you want to add to your artwork, which will appear on OpenSea.

  • Tags: Verisart will automatically add the artist name, dimensions, title, ‘Verisart Certified’, and production year as tags. You can add more tags here.

Edition:

Set your edition here. This will appear as a trait on OpenSea.

  • Note: This is only suitable if the items have identical physical metadata.

Please note: this is only suitable if the items have identical physical metadata though.

Public Notes:

Add any extra messages or descriptions that you don’t want to appear on OpenSea, but only on the certificate.

Physical Link:

We recommend leaving this as ‘yes’ so if you choose to add a QR sticker or NFC tag in the future, you always can.

COA as NFT

This section merges your certificate and mint together.

  • Additional Public Images: These images appear only on your certificate and not on OpenSea. The primary image selected in the mint NFT section is the only image that will appear on OpenSea. We recommend adding both images of the physical and digital version of your work, here is where you can do it.

  • Object Type: Note the physical element of your work by choosing between the options provided.

  • Medium: Detail the physical elements of your artwork, specifying the medium.

  • Dimensions:

    • Height/Width/Depth: Add the physical measurements here.

    • If ‘Digital’ is selected as the object type, you can add duration for videos or pixel sizes.

  • Production Location, Current Location & Public Inventory: Optional fields to communicate additional information to your collectors on the certificate.
