Before you start minting, you’ll need to complete a few steps to get set up.

To start minting on Verisart, you will need a crypto wallet. If you’re planning to mint an NFT on the Ethereum blockchain, you will also need to fund your wallet with the cryptocurrency Ether.

This guide provides an overview of how to get started:

  1. Create a MetaMask wallet

  2. Fund your wallet with cryptocurrency

  3. Link your wallet to Verisart

Blockchains and Cryptocurrencies

Verisart allows creators to mint on Ethereum and on Polygon.

To mint on Ethereum, creators will need to pay a ‘gas fee’ that covers the computational power needed to register the NFT on the blockchain.

Gas fees are paid in the cryptocurrency ether (ETH), Ethereum’s native currency.

If you are minting on Polygon, Verisart will cover the gas fees.

Each user has an Ethereum account, also known as a wallet. Your wallet is where your ETH and your NFTs are stored.

1. Setting up a wallet

What is a wallet?

A 'wallet' is software to store and trade your NFTs and cryptocurrency.

Why is a wallet required to sign up?

OpenSea is a non-custodial platform, which means you have full control over your funds, creation, or any other tokens in your wallet at all times. A wallet is required to manage your Ethereum account, hold your tokens, and send and receive transactions like bids on OpenSea.

Which wallet should I use?

For the time being, Verisart only supports MetaMask, an Ethereum account/wallet manager for browsers.

Installing Metamask

Use the latest version of Chrome or Firefox. Go to https://metamask.io/ and install the browser extension, and watch their intro video.

Once MetaMask is installed, follow the steps outlined below by clicking on the fox icon in your browser extension panel and going through the welcome screens, where you can create a new wallet, create a password, and accept the privacy policy, terms of service and several disclaimers to proceed.

Next, you’ll see the “Secret Backup Phrase” screen. It is VERY IMPORTANT you save these 12 words in a private, secure location. They are the only way to restore your account if you get locked out or lose your password. IF you lose this, you will lose access to your NFTs and there is nothing we can do to help you.

MetaMask will ask you to confirm it to prove you’ve saved it somewhere.

2. Link your wallet to Verisart

  • Sign up to Verisart or log in to your existing account

  • Sign in directly with the Metamask wallet that owns the NFT

  • You'll have to sign the transaction on

  • Log in with email and then connect your wallet

    • Click on the person icon in the drop right-hand corner

    • Click “Connect your wallet”

    • Click connect with Metamask (Please note: for the time being we only support connecting your Metamask through the browser extension.)

    • Follow the steps in the Metamask pop up
